This level is not a nightmare at all, unlike The Nightmare Peaks 1 (sort of). Get the Cyclone helmet and go to the left, fly upward through a secret opening in the roof to the left (watch out for the drill blocks, then to the left, and then descend to the flag. If you're not such an experienced flyer, it's also quite easy to go right, fly above the Cloud, and go all the way to the left for the flag.
Note that a Snowstorm seems to approach, however the rain will never fall in this round, even if you wait three minutes or longer.
If you feel compelled to explore this level, you can do so indefinitely. Note that it is somewhat challenging and confusing, packed with dangerous clouds, spikes and eerie green fireballs, with little reward other than the aforementioned ankh. You can find some diamonds. There is also a large supply of clocks available, as well as two teleporters, which will take you back to the beginning of the level. The weather will again be normal. That storm was just a horrible nightmare after all... you have enough time to explore some more... maybe the weather will be nicer this time.
- At the beginning, go right. Immediately below the bridge and to the right is a secret passage. This will take you to an area with an Ankh. Cyclone is helpful to get the extra life without getting hurt. Now you can fly straight up, and to your left, and touch the Flag before it even gets dark out.
If you select "Restart Round" while in the Micromax transformation, you will immediately die upon spawning for each and every successive attempt for the level, until all your lives are lost. The only way to escape this is to hold the "Down" button while the level loads, as ducking on the first frame somehow causes Kid not to die.
- The Nightmare Peaks II marks the last level that is divided into parts.
- This level gives the player an insane number of clocks - a total of eight, which ties Wind Castles 1 for the largest number of unique clocks.
